What was your life like before you received the COVID-19 vaccine?
It was a very good life. I was trained overseas as a pharmacy technician and worked in Canada as an Uber driver, providing for my family. I was building my future with my wife to have a good life with our 2-year-old daughter. As we all know, the government made extensive efforts to encourage Canadians to get vaccinated, running many campaigns for this purpose. I was one of the many Canadians who followed these instructions and got vaccinated, and this is where my story begins. The COVID-19 vaccine ruined my health, body, and life. I became disabled. My life is getting worse day by day since I got the vaccine. Prior to this, I had never experienced any kind of health concerns or problems with my skin.
Describe the symptoms and the timeline of the reaction.
After receiving the COVID-19 vaccines, I developed a severe skin condition. I received my first dose at a Walmart pharmacy in Gatineau. Ten days later, small acne-like blisters appeared on my right hand. I tried a topical cream suggested by a pharmacist, but it didn’t work. While serious complications from the COVID-19 vaccines are rare, I had a sneaking suspicion my shot might have had something to do with the rash. Nevertheless, I was eager to receive my second dose and returned to the same pharmacy for another jab 1 month later. Just 48 hours following the vaccination, almost my entire body — my hands, arms, legs, and even my back — reacted the same, and it started burning a little. There was a strong pain. I recognized there was something happening in my body due to the vaccines.
I was in significant distress and went to Gatineau Hospital, but, after waiting for 23 hours, I left without seeing a doctor. A few days later, I began searching for a family doctor. Unfortunately, none of the family doctors in the province were accepting patients. I then reached out to Mariana Mefleh, political attaché to Chapleau’s representative, Mathieu Lévesque, from the National Assembly of Quebec, for assistance in finding a family doctor or any other medical professional. She contacted the Ministry of Health, which put me on a waiting list, but unfortunately, I never received any follow-up from them. Meanwhile, I had to quit my job because I was unable to work due to my ongoing skin condition. This left me financially struggling, in addition to enduring severe physical and psychological suffering.
Due to my worsening condition, I borrowed money from my family and traveled to Ottawa to see a doctor. I paid $70 out of pocket for the consultation, along with additional costs for prescriptions, including hydrocortisone/anti-fungal creams and tablets used to treat bacterial infections. This doctor referred me to a dermatologist, but the diagnosis was unclear, and my suffering continued. I used prescription and over-the-counter ointments and antihistamines, but there was little to no improvement. This was further compounded by the financial and psychological toll of my condition. On March 31, 2022, I visited the dermatologist and paid another $200 for the consultation. The doctor admitted he didn’t know what was causing my condition, but he suggested it could be linked to the COVID-19 vaccines. He prescribed some very expensive medications, some of which were partially covered by RAMQ (22% coverage), while others were not covered at all. As is well known, dermatological medications can be quite costly, and I was already struggling financially.
Despite taking all the prescribed medications, my condition continued to worsen. On August 18, 2022, I returned to the same clinic for further examination and paid another $70. I asked the doctor to refer me to an allergist, Dr. Antony J. Ham Pong. There, on August 29, 2022, I paid $246.52 – again, borrowing money from my family. The allergist provided me with a prescription and a detailed report, stating that I experienced “a severe blistering, weeping, peeling, eczematoid skin reaction, shortly after receiving the Moderna vaccine”.
My quality of life has been deeply impacted, as I have had trouble sleeping, working, and supporting my family. I have been unable to live a normal life for over 4 years. My skin has become highly sensitive due to the COVID vaccine injury. I cannot use any shampoo, soap, or lotion unless they are specifically medical or baby products. Additionally, I cannot tolerate warm or hot water on my skin. I cannot shower or wash my hands. Hence, I have been using unscented baby wipes (99.9% water) and must buy specific fabric for my clothing, bedsheets, blankets, etc. I have also been using a special unscented detergent, mainly designed for babies, to wash my clothes with. This all comes at a significant cost. I need at least $2,500 to $3,500 CAD every month to cover the wipes, creams, powders, etc.
While my father had been covering these expenses since 2021, he is now 70 years old, retired, and no longer able to provide financial support. Since May 2024, I have had to borrow over $35,000 CAD from friends and family to cover my medical expenses. Like many injured Canadians, I submitted an application for compensation, however, my case has yet to be assigned a doctor. There has been no action from the Ministry of Health in Quebec. I have also contacted many people within the governments, including Greg Fergus, Premier François Legault, Steven MacKinnon, Justin Trudeau, and the Ministers of Health in both Canada and Quebec. Unfortunately, none of them have responded with anything or offered support. You can check my full story on CBC News. Your support is appreciated so much.
Describe the solutions that helped your symptoms.
Unfortunately, nothing has worked at all. I tried everything but have not found a solution. Dupixent injections provide temporary relief, but the symptoms always return within 10 days of taking it. It’s a cycle that repeats itself. I feel like the fire restarted again.
Which solutions were not helpful?
I resorted to medical cupping to cleanse my blood of the infections I believed were causing my condition. Unfortunately, it did not help. Even the Injection is NOT working now.
What would you like others to know?
If they feel anything weird on their body or health, please go and check out on yourself right away. Despite the temporal relationship between my vaccines and the onset of my condition, it has been very difficult getting doctors to acknowledge the possible link. They seem worried and scared to say my condition is because of the COVID-19 vaccines, although growing amounts of evidence now exist concerning various cutaneous reactions.
